Biography
Claire Cohen is an artist working with abstract and semi-abstract imagery in a variety of media.
She is interested in playing with the balance of two contrasting elements, whether it is the combination of computer code and handcrafted materials or the juxtaposition of simple shapes to create a complex form.
Claire graduated with honours in Physical Sciences in 1986 and followed this with a career in engineering. A return to academia in 2008 saw the development of an interest in printmaking which culminated in a masters degree from the University of the West of England. This presented opportunities to experiment with new technologies as well as traditional techniques and, more particularly, a chance to explore ways of combining several processes. Claire's work continues to be driven by a love of experimentation both with materials and with methods and much of her work involves combining techniques in multiple steps of production.
Born in 1963. Lives and works in Bristol, UK
Claire's work is held in private collections in UK, Europe, US and commissioned works created for corporate and private clients in UK, UAE and Europe.
